St Patrick’s Weekend Festival 2019

Our York Irish St. Patrick’s Weekend Festival is our biggest event of the year. Our fifth annual Festival in 2019 took place on Saturday 16th and St. Patrick’s day itself, Sunday 17th March. The activities are all about celebrating and continuing to bring an understanding of Irish tradition and culture to York, bringing fun and enjoyment to the city for people of all ages who have an interest in Irish culture and celebrating the unique connections between York and Ireland. There was live music, Irish dancing, ceilidhs, Irish food and drink, face painting and much more. We are always looking for volunteers to help with the running of the Festival so please get in touch if this is something you would be interested in. Our Festival in 2020 will take place on the weekend of 13th-15th March. In 2019 we even took part in Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening Initiative where famous monuments and attractions are lit up in green across the world to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Together with City of York Council and Tourism Ireland, we lit up Clifford’s Tower and part of York’s historic city walls in green to highlight the impact that the Irish community have had in York.
